Places You Must Visit In Pesisir Barat

This is my father hometown, it’s located in Pugung Penengahan; Lemong; Pesisir Barat. I go there once a year on every before or after Eid Fitri Pray, but mostly i celebrated my Eid Fitri there. It takes 8 or 9 hours to get there from my home in South Lampung. You will never be bored on the road, the beautiful scenery will make you enjoy and you won’t let your eyes miss the scenery; i’m sure.

There are beaches, mountains, lakes that are connected to the sea, fields, old houses which is so unique, some fountain(i’m not sure you still can find it because there is a roadrwork) and there are animals too if you are lucky, like monkeys. I ever saw a monkey when i’m passed the Taman Nasional Bukit Barisan Selatan (TNBBS).Usually, on my way back to home. There are so many fruits seller, it depends on what season but usually durians, rambutans and duku.

Actually, there are two ways to get there. First, you can take the road through Liwa. It takes much longer of time If you take this road but you will find some cool places to stop by like a place to take a picture with mostly. I’ve ever take this road and i stop by at a huge Mosque in Liwa named Islamic Center Mosque Baitul Mukhlisin. It is an amazing Mosque, the building is spectacular.  There are trees that makes the atmosphere cool and so peaceful and also a large hall to park the vehicle. The water is cold and the floor of the Mosque is cold too and it makes the visitor feel cool.

Besides Mosque, there are some nice park in town and an iconic place to take a picture with. I would rather to take the second way by the way, because i can’t stand with the twist and turns road if i take the road through Liwa. All i can do along the road is just sitting and trying hard not to vomit hahaha. even though the scenary is so damn good, I can’t enjoy  it or even see it because i will feel dizzy.

Second way is through Kota Agung. This road is more challenging and faster than the first (if you don’t stop by too long).  You will have to pass a horrible sharp steep climb(called Tanjakan Sedayu) , there are some of this because you are going to climb a mountain. You always have to be careful even you are already a pro driver because we don’t know what will happen next heheheh.  Next, be careful if you stop by around the forest  to take a rest after you reach the top of the mountain and about to get down. Due to that it is a wilderness, i’m afraid there will be a  wild animal that crossed the road. But all this time i never see one except monkey. At the top of the mountain, there is a small store. You can feel the quiet situation, breath the fresh air and enjoy the scenery . After you get down, the scenery will slowly change into wide seas.

There are some famous places along the road to my dad’s hometown :

   1.

Some huge Mosque

   2.       Tanjung Setia Beach

This place is good for surfing. It has been proved that there are many tourist go surfing here or even   stay for a couple days. There is a place for the visitors to stay.

   3. Labuhan Jukhung Krui

   4.       Pulau Pisang (Banana Island)
This place called as “Banana Island” because some people said that the shape of the Island is like       banana and the others said that there are so many  banana trees in that island. You can get to the     Island by a little ship from Krui port or Tebakak port (across of the Banana Island). It cost around     Rp.25.000/1person.

These are some photos that i took :
